Great Beginnings at Beaminster School

Beaminster School has invited us to facilitate an exciting project with pupils from Years 7, 8, and 9 to create an anthology of writing, which will be published in early 2022. The six-week writing project - entitled ‘I Have a Dream’ - kicked off with a workshop about ideas, and how we harness them.

Our team of Writing Mentors worked alongside the pupils as they spent the morning thinking about creative process. They came up with some ingenious uses for paperclips - including a bogey picker and a lead for chickens - and used wordplay to conjure unusual combinations, from an icy book to a glow-in-the-dark X-box. Each writer has their own journal to capture their stories and ideas, and we will develop the writer’s toolkit as the weeks go on.

The anthology will be edited by Little Toller Books, and published by The Bank of Dreams and Nightmares imprint. Stay tuned for more news of the Beaminster writers’ progress, and for the BIG launch early next year.
