Young Writers’ Story Making Success

We spent a fantastic morning with young writers at Parrett & Axe CE Primary School. Pupils in Durdle Door class collaborated to write a brilliant story about a dragon called Cloudy, who had a fear of bananas. Cloudy and his pal, Bob the Penguin, were ousted from their homeland and set out on a quest to find a new home. On the way they encountered a jungle littered with banana peels and faced a banana army sent by Billie the Banana Guy…scary stuff!

We had our own giant banana too, to ‘gently’ remind children if they were caught peeking during our secret voting process for big narrative decisions!

The Bank of Dreams and Nightmares’ Grumpy Manager called the children on the Red Telephone to dismiss their story writing skills, but by the end of the morning he was so impressed with their word craft that he agreed to put their stories in the bank vault, and also to publish their book. Each child is now a published author, with fantastic illustrations by Adam Beer.
