Terrific HIEROGLYPHIC! - Geraldine’s Tail

We were back at Thorner’s Primary School last week working with a fantastic group of Year 3 and 4 students on a story inspired by their work on the ancient Egyptians. Taking genuine hieroglyphs from the walls of a pyramid as their initial inspiration, this amazing group of young writers crafted an epic tale of magic, danger and triumph over adversity. Geraldine’s Tail is an exciting and hilarious story showing what happens when a humble bird is given a magic Phoenix feather that grants her extraordinary powers from the God of the Pyramid. Oh and she sees her grandmother as a banana-eating hippo. Obviously.

Beautifully illustrated throughout, live and as it was being written, by the incredible Staffan Gnosspelius, Geraldine’s Tail was a blast to write. Thanks to all the staff at Thorner’s Primary School who were so helpful and got involved so brilliantly. An extra special thanks also to Bank Volunteer, Rachel, who gave up so much of her time and expertise to help the pupils write their stories.
