Woodroffe’s Well-Wishes to Ukraine

We continued our Podcasting project at the Woodroffe School with a day spent with Year 10. Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, we took the opportunity to use the workshop to allow the 14-15 year-olds to express their feelings about the current situation.

There were a variety of writing exercises throughout the morning, from trying to imagine losing one’s home in a matter of hours, to writing a letter to President Vladimir Putin.

In what was a very thought-provoking morning, the Year 10 students heard a series of ‘Voicemails from Ukraine’ - direct contact from those affected by the war.

We also asked each of the young writers to make a postcard to Ukraine; these will be packed into the backpacks being sent to Ukrainian children in Little Toller Bookshop’s and Bluemoose Books’ Packed with Hope campaign.
