The WriterS’ account

Most people don’t connect writing for pleasure with science but science is what goes down on Wednesday afternoons here at The Writers’ Account.  And by science I mean, old science: alchemy.  Alchemy is all about the quest to shift base metals into gold and people have thirsted to know if it is possible for thousands of years.  Who knew that all they needed to do was to let young people at a piece of paper with a pencil in their hand?

The Writers’ Account is exactly that, a means by which teenagers can invest in their own writing by querying, challenging and playing with ideas and texts in ways that unlock even more of their own creativity.  So far, we’ve borrowed each other’s stories, rummaged around in the Dorset dialect and the details of surfing lingo and tried on a new persona for size.  There have also been master classes with a comic actor who writes gags for the advertising industry and a French poet whose spoken word slaloms in and out of linguistics.

And every, single week base metal has been turned into gold.
