Speak Up - on International Poetry Day

It’s International Poetry Day and we’re celebrating the official release of our latest publication - ‘Speak Up!’ This amazing anthology of subversive verse has been written by some extremely talented poets from Axe Valley Academy, Badmouth Academy and Sir John Colfox Academy. Each group got to work with a professional poet with one simple brief, to write a poem that will change the world. No pressure there, then!

The pieces these poets have crafted are hilarious and heart-breaking, fierce and fraglie. They feature gentle pleas, unreasonable demands and angry rants. The anthology is a triumph and all the participants ought to be extremely proud of the work they have created. We can’t wait to read what they come up with in the future.

The sessions were lead by three amazing poets and we are very grateful to Louisa Adjoa Parker, Johnny Fluffypunk and Myriam San Marco for running them and doing such an amazing job.Their expertise and guidance helped the young authors to create truly affecting poems. They were ably assisted by our awesome team of volunteer writing mentors, Ambs, Jon, Lu, Raja and Valerie, and a huge thanks goes out to these amazing individuals who believed in the poets and in the pieces they were writing.
