Polls “Wildly inaccurate” as Cais Party snatch election victory in Axminster
In a nail-biting conclusion to our Political Writing workshops series, The CAiS Party seized power at Axe Valley Academy on Wednesday by the narrowest of margins. Earlier in the week, the polls had been predicting a landslide victory for the Root Alternative Party (a.k.a. The Potato Party). However, on the final day of campaigning, with the parties setting out their aims and objectives, and regaling the crowds with their impassioned speeches, the pollsters were forced to admit that their predictions had been wrong. The head of the polling group said, “Um…Just, wow! We did not see this coming. Clearly our polling was wildly inaccurate.”
It was a hard fought campaign and all parties fielded excellent candidates with clear and exciting visions for the future, however, on the day, the returning officer called a clear victory for the stable, measured policies of the CAiS Party. Our congratulations to the party and to their candidate Alex MP.
The official results of the voting, along with each party’s share of the vote was as follows:
CAiS Party - 35%
The Hill - 29%
The Root Alternative Party - 18%
The Bowiest Party - 18%
It has been a privilege to work with such a fun and enthusiastic bunch of young writers and we are very grateful to Mr Brown, Mr Wilson and all the staff at Axe Valley Academy for their support of this project. It is a fantastic place to be, and working with such engaged and talented students is a genuine delight.
We were fortunate enough to be able to secure the talents of Labour Speech Writer, Harry Vincent and Journalist, Rob Kemp for this project, both of whom donated a huge amount of their time and expertise, so a big thank you to them. Enabling students to plan and work with industry professionals is a key part of the success of projects like this.
As always we the young people were supported by our incredible volunteer mentors who gave up such a lot of their time to help the young writers, MPs and politicos of the future. We really couldn’t have done this without them, so a massive thanks to Lizzie, Valerie, Denise, Raja, Amber and Jon for all of their amazing assistance.
