Out of this world! Musbury pupils produce a sci-fi classic
We had a brilliant morning working with a multi-talented, mixed age-group class from Musbury Primary School in Devon. The tale of Alan the Alien and his attempt to save his best friend, Gary, from the evil machinations of Dave the Tadpole, is an absolute classic. The class created a totally believable alien landscape in which to set their story. A world so strange and beautifully drawn that it might have come straight out of an Arthur C. Clarke novel. Fleeing the planet, however, might not be the end of the story, and while Alan and Gary think they’ve escaped, Dave the Tadpole has other ideas…
This was such fun to write with the children’s ideas flying thick and fast. The morning went by in a flash! Thanks to Mrs Boyce, Mr Greeley and all of the staff at Musbury Primary for organising such a great session. Thanks also to Imi Neylan for the wonderful illustrations that were being created live, via the miracle of modern telecommunications, from an artistic bunker in Sri Lanka!
As always, the session wouldn’t have been possible without the assistance our our amazing assistants, so another huge thank you to Lizzie, Michelle and Jon, our wonderful volunteer writing mentors!
