Love Where You Live - Radipole Pupils celebrate their home

What makes home, Home? What’s the very best thing about where you live? Is it a destination, a comfy familiarity, or is it the vibe, the community, the people? We have been asking the amazing pupils from Radipole Primary School to consider and respond to this question through poetry, as part of their school focus: “Love Where You Live”, and what we’ve discovered is that Weymouth is jam-packed with incredible people, places, experiences and landscapes. Working from Reception class right through to Year 6, the poems that these young people are producing are true celebrations of where they live as well as very personal highlights of what makes their home special to them.

The pupils are learning to write in a variety of poetic styles, and will even be lucky enough to work an amazing guest poet (the incredible Liv Torc)! We’ve worked with all of KS1 as well as Year 3, and we’re not done yet. Each of the young poets is as unique as their take on what their home means to them and every poem sheds light on another brilliant aspect of Weymouth and the marvellous people who live there.

We can’t wait to share the finished anthology with you as soon as we’re done. More announcements will be shared nearer the time, so…WATCH THIS SPACE.
