Nonsense Encouraged

TBODAN has embarked on a super exciting project with Bridport-based theatre company Stuff and Nonsense. We’ve joined forces with creative drama dynamos Niki McCretton and Jenny Harrold, to enlist the help of Year 4 children to build a brand new theatre production of the Three Little Pigs, which will premier at Poole’s Lighthouse Theatre late in 2023. This exciting show will bear all the Stuff and Nonsense hallmarks, with a playful (and anarchic) nod to the original tale plus a ton of fun for all ages. After its Poole run, the production will take to the road for a national tour, culminating in a festive season at Plymouth’s Theatre Royal - with more touring on the cards, including internationally - Wow!

Working with Year 4 pupils from three schools - in Poole, Bridport, and Plymouth - we are co-facilitating creative workshops to harness the children’s ideas with a series of tasks including writing, role-play, drama, and puppetry, all inspired by - but not constrained to - the original text.

A small group of pupils will remain involved in the project for its entirety, with a hand in scripting, directing, and generally getting stuck in with the huge creative process that a production entails.

It’s a huge and wonderful project, and we couldn't be more thrilled to be involved with such a dynamic theatre company with child-led playfulness at its heart.
