Induction & Illustration

Our pool of fabulous volunteers continues to grow, providing invaluable small-group mentoring for young writers both in and out of schools. We offer a relaxed and informative induction session to all new volunteers, to introduce The Bank of Dreams & Nightmares and go through a few elements of our workshops; these take place in the lovely vaulted indoor courtyard at the Bridport LSi. Tea, coffee, and cake are a given of course.

The Big Red Telephone is a key part of our primary school storymaking workshop; a hotline to the Bank Manager provides the children with a unique experience and opportunity to share their work with a sceptic, and to wow that grumpy voice at the end of the phone. It’s a wonderful thing.

In addition to our Writing Mentors, we are also fortunate to have a group of fantastic artists who give up their time to illustrate these cray and brilliant stories as they happen, either in the room with us or via Zoom.

We’re enormously grateful to everyone who volunteers with us, the idea being that it is as much fun for them as it is for us and the children! Please do get in touch if you’re interested in finding out more about volunteering…contact Nick Goldsmith at nick@thebankofdreamsandnightmares.org
