Valerie is a local playwright, director, producer and retired drama teacher. Since signing up with The Bank less than six months ago, she has become a leading lady amongst our volunteers and has been a regular on nearly all our secondary school workshops and at The Vault – the after-school journalism club at the LSi.

“My favourite thing is that I learn so much! At the moment I am involved with the Colfox Film Campaign and Beaminster School anthology workshops and I find it fascinating that, as much as the kids are learning, I am learning from them.”

Lu Orza joins me at the Bridport Literary and Science Institute to chat about being our October Featured Volunteer. “What an honour! Yes exciting, I’m really pleased” she exclaimed.. 

“As soon I heard about it, I thought, this is for me,” Raja explains. “I had been developing skills as an amateur storyteller, which was interrupted by COVID, and I missed the storytelling community. The Bank offered a way of getting back into something I loved doing.”
