A Tale (or is it tail?) of Monsters & Martial Arts

Year 5 pupils from Salway Ash CE Primary school delighted us - and the Bank Manager - with their story about a rat who wanted nothing more than to be able to do martial arts with his tail. No spoilers here, but the giant sewage monster had other ideas for Toby the rat and his sidekick, Bob the ginger cat. We were lucky enough to have illustrator Suzanna Hubbard with us to do live drawing throughout the session; she brought the story to life as it unfolded.

After his usual rudeness to the children aged 9-10, the Bank Manager grudgingly agreed to hear their endings to the collaborative story, which was called β€˜Rat-a-Stewy.’ Needless to say he could scarcely believe such young minds could create such imaginative and well-written stories.

It was a fantastic start to our 2022 workshop programme, with many more primary schools to visit and some big projects in the pipeline. All will be revealed on these pages.
