The Cockroach and the Bath - Year 3s get writing!
We were back at The Prince of Wales School this week where we got to work with a fantastic group of Year 3s. Having last worked with them on creating characters, this time we launched straight into writing a full blown story. The group did not disappoint! Working together, they crafted an exciting tale of giant cockroaches, mega-boosted bathtubs, and Potato Donkey Kong. The Cockroach and the Bath is exciting, hilarious and completely out there. Much like the group that wrote it.
Having written the first half of the story together and left the reader on a real cliffhanger, this team of young authors then had the task of finishing off the story, resolving the problems and bring the tale to a satisfying conclusion. They wrote magnificent endings that tied up loose ends, kept the story open for a sequel, or simply left the reader with a warm, fuzzy feeling.
The wonderful illustrations were drawn live, as the story was being written, by the incredible Jasmine Baker , in whose time and expertise we are incredibly grateful and eternally in awe! The Cockroach and the Bath was such fun to write, and the class that wrote it were a joy to work with. Huge thanks to Mrs Evans and the rest of the staff at the Prince of Wales school, who were so helpful and got stuck in so brilliantly.
As always, the children were supported by our amazing team of Bank Volunteers, and we owe massive thanks to Lizzie, Alison, Tessa, Jackie and Liz.They gave up so much of her time and expertise to support the pupils and we could not do what we do without them.
