The Bank visit No.10 Downing Street!

We had an amazing time working with three schools at No.10 Downing Street on Friday. The workshop was part of No.10s ‘Lessons at 10’ program instigated by Mrs Akshata Murty, the Prime Minister’s wife. The young writers were absolutely incredible and wrote brilliant ‘How to…’s to make current and future Prime Minister’s lives easier. We spent some time thinking about jobs that Prime Ministers might have to do that no-one ever hears about, and then we worked out life hacks or ‘How to…’s to make those tasks just a little bit simpler for them.

So, Thanks to the pupils from Richmond Primary School in Kent, Rosh Pinah Primary School, Edgware and Middleton Primary School in Milton Keynes, the PM now knows how to:

Negotiate with alien visitors, abolish war around the world, create a dinosaur army, solve the climate crisis and listen to children’s opinions…and that’s just for starters!

The organisers of the event were blown away by the morning, saying, “Wow! The session from the Bank of Dreams and Nightmares was excellent. They were able to capture the children’s attention from the moment they arrived. The writing workshop allowed the children a space to use their imagination and…even the quieter ones in the class were heard and able to get involved. I would highly recommend the Bank of Dreams and Nightmares. We usually see some of the children come in a little more timid to a session but they made the kids feel so welcome and involved.

Another staff member agreed, adding: “A particular highlight was watching the children’s faces light up when the grumpy bank manager called stuck in a vault!”

Helen Delange, a teacher from Richmond Primary School, added, “Seeing our children’ eyes light up with inspiration and wonder during the workshop was a joy. Such experiences are invaluable in igniting their passion for learning.”

Huge thanks to the staff and pupils from the schools as well as Scott, Alice and the team at No.10 that made it possible. We can’t wait to come back.
