Fine Art with a Flourish at Symondsbury

Our Symondsbury Storymaking workshops were alive with artistic creativity; the two artists for our Year 5/6 and Y3/4 sessions provided the most fantastic experience for the young writers.

While the collaborative story was being written up to a cliffhanger point, Hugh Dunford Wood and Kate Robertson brought the respective tales springing to life with their own unique illustrations, using very different mediums.

The Traitor and The Lion, the Mice, and the Chicken Attack were entirely devised by the children themselves, and the process of collaborative writing alongside live illustration made these two workshops very special indeed.

Our volunteer illustrators all bring their own style in realising the children’s stories, which makes every single one unique, and it’s always exciting to see the original drawings take their places in the published storybooks. A big thank you to all illustrators who have volunteered thus far and become a part of our Hall of Fame. Interested artists, please do get in touch with jan@thebankofdreamsandnightmares.org, if you’d like join in the fun!
