Connecting communities with Intergenerational PenPals!

We had a brilliant day working with the awesome Year 5s from Salway Ash Primary School yesterday as they started a correspondence project with some of our local residential care homes. It was tricky writing to a person that they hadn’t met yet, but the young writers came up with all sorts of amazing ideas and anecdotes to share with their new pen pal. They also found plenty of questions that they wanted their new contact to answer. The pupils worked on the elements that would produce a really engaging letter, and would hopefully make their correspondent keen to write back and share more information about themselves.

The letters are in the post and winging their way to the pupils counterparts in the various residences.

This feels like the start of something really special. We can’t wait for the replies!
